Swahid Diwas is observed every year in Assam on 10th December, to remember and pay tribute to the 855 martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the State. The day is also remembered for the death anniversary of the first Martyr, Khargeswar Talukdar.
This red letter day was observed throughout the State of Assam under the active leadership of various organizations. In Tezpur too, the day was observed by the All Assam Students Union along with all other regional students union. Homage was paid in the Swahid Bedi at the Tezpur Jatiya Swahid Bakori, on Monday morning and also in all the Swahid Bedi across the town.
We pay our greatest tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the movement against illegal migration from Bangladesh.
