The Ashok Chakra Club of Garwanpatty, Tezpur, celebrates its 26th year of ‘Hari Naam Sankirtan’ (হরিনাম সংকীর্তন) in the premises of the Durga Puja Mandap.
The Kirtan was first started by Late Sachin Dutta, which is still continued in his absence, by the club members.
Mr. Sankar Dutta, son of Lt. Sachin Dutta, while in conversation with Tezpur Buzz stated, “This year, the kirtan started from 31st December and shall continue till 6th January. A number of 10 kirtan teams from various states have arrived here to be a part of the Kirtan”.
One of the renowned forms of kirtan, ‘Astakali Leela‘ (অষ্টকালি লীলা) is scheduled to be performed on Friday and Saturday and Mohabhog will be observed on Sunday. Gurudev Ajit Goswami, from Howrah, is invited every year to perform the six days long rituals.
