Inspite of the huge developments across India, our country still lacks in waste management and hygienic strategies. With a view to promote the virtues of a clean country and women safety awareness, Sangeetha Shridhar, the energetic lady of 51 is out on a Solo Drive across the country. She will be covering 29000 kms and visiting 310 cities during her Bharat Darshan.
She decided to go forward with the journey keeping in heart the principles of Gandhiji’s Swacch Bharat. Her modified Tata Nexa SUV seems to be her home for the trip. She has solar panels to generate electricity, a fan, a light, and power points to charge her electronic devices.To avoid plastic, she is taking re-usable utensils with her. She plans to learn the local cuisines around our country. She is known to also not use any medicine and cosmetics,to keep alive the spirit of Swadeshi.
During her trip, she will be auditing the public toilets along the State and National Highways and report the findings to Ministry of Tourism, Swacch Bharat Mission, United Nations Sustainable Developmental Board. Sridhar has prepared 50 questions based on the ASEAN public toilet standard to assess the facilities available.
Tezpur was extremely lucky and honoured to have her presence and learn her principles. She was invited as a guest speaker at the Salaam E Hindustan, the musical evening arranged on account of the Armed Forces Flag Day 2018. Addressing the gathering in the event, she spoke about her vision of clean India and motivated everyone to take steps and help her to reach her goal. She laid her footsteps in the town on Friday and visited all the notable areas of the town.
